Meets: Once a month, but much more frequently in the weeks leading up to conventions.

The Junior Classical League is Hampden's own form of Latin club. We celebrate the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome while showing off our knowledge, artistic ability, and enthusiasm. Nationally, the JCL is the second largest youth organization. In Maine, Hampden boasts one of the biggest JCLs with close to 80 students participating every year.

There are three statewide conventions: the Fall Convention in November, a winter Certamen competition in March, and a two-day Spring Convention in May. At these conventions, JCLers compete against students from other Maine schools in academics, spirit, creative arts, and olympics, all with a classical theme.
